From high school credits to literacy skill development to college and university programs, Iohahi:io serves all adult members of Akwesasne.

In Mohawk, Iohahi:io means, “the good road.” Established in 1989, Iohahi:io was founded to provide greater access to post-secondary education for the Akwesasne Mohawk people. Iohahi:io functions to “provide the best possible education and training services to the members of Akwesasne.”

Iohahi:io Akwesasne Education & Training Institute has offered members of the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne the tools to succeed in all aspects of life. The Center holds classes in literacy and basic skills, and offers high school credits to completion of the OSSD diploma through TR Leger School of Adult, Alternative and Continuing Education. Iohahi:io provides college certificate and diploma programs and also offers pre-employment workshops. Iohahi:io serves all members of Akwesasne interested in continuing on their education journey.

Iohahi:io offers programs and courses of study which promote individual and collective economic and social well-being; address issues and needs from and Indigenous perspective; serve as a center of excellence for Indigenous community-based learning; and enable learners to gain knowledge and skills needed to be self-sufficient, educated and employable.
